Man Refuses To Pay Traffic Fine Due To End Of The World

From Lenta.ru:

A resident of the Kuznetsk Basin has explained his refusal to pay a fine by saying the world is going to end soon.

A resident of the Tyazhinskiy municipal district of the Kemerovskaya Oblast has refused to pay a traffic fine. The man explained to the bailiffs that he didn’t consider it necessary to pay the treasury, as the end of the world will soon be here, and paying any sort of fine is pointless now, according to “NGS Kemerovo”, who refer to a statement by the Federal Bailiff’s Service in the region.

The bailiffs said that the Siberian was in a car accident in the summer of 2012. He was written up for a sum of 1,000 roubles [Note: £20, 25€], but he still hasn’t paid. On top of this, he constantly comes into the bailiff’s office and brings the bailiffs various charts and graphs allegedly proving the impending end of the world.

The man in the accident is calling on the authorities to forgive the man who owes money for his unpaid fine. “The man who owes money believes that if people start to be kinder to each other, including by forgiving fines, then the end of the world won’t come about”, NGS Kemerovo quote the press service of the local Federal Bailiff’s Service as saying.

The ministry have said that the man who is refusing to pay the fine can expect an administrative arrest within 15 days, or seizure of his property and funds from his bank account.

There is a point of view that the world will end on the 21st December 2012. The supporters of this belief refer to the Mayan calendar where the counting of days ends precisely on the 21st December 2012. Recently, experts have stated that in fact, the Mayans did not predict the end of life on earth, they just marked out this date as the end of a particular period of civilisation.

The man clearly has issues, but in terms of “if people start to be kinder to each other, … then the end of the world won’t come about”, he’s completely right.

This is the second piece of good news, after “bad back”!

[Note: the commenter is referring to a rumour that Putin is suffering with a bad back]

He definitely needs psychiatric help. Not wanting to pay is understandable, but to waste so much time on it?

Nah, it’s fine, he’s just a good, solid troll.

Ha… accounting will probably say the same about his salary… :)))

Well, if it’s the end of the world, pay the fine, what do you need the money for…

It’s time for the beer factories to start giving away beer for free too

What do you think? Good excuse? Or a desperate attempt to escape a traffic fine?
