Internet Meme Stoned Fox Monument to be Built in Khabarovsk

From Lenta.ru:

In Khabarovsk, it has been decided to build a monument to the Stoned Fox

In Khabarovsk, it has been decided to build a monument to the Stoned Fox. A 70cm high sculpture will be made out of bronze. This is reported by the Dvnovosti portal.

The creator of the sculpture, local resident Dmitriy Pushkarskiy has invited the artist who created the stoned fox, Adele Morse and Nikita Dzhigurda to the opening of the sculpture, at a date to be announced.

Pushkarskiy has not yet decided on a location for hs monument. At the beginning, he wanted to put the Fox on the town’s ponds, but the mayor did not agree to this idea. As the portal explains, the town’s main artist was not allowed to build a monument, because near to the ponds there are already artistic figures that have been completed “with a single artistic and stylistic concept.”

Pushkarskiy has also asked the regional authorities for permission to install his sculpture. If they refuse, he will approach Khabarovsk’s businessmen. “Some way or another, we will definitely find a place for this monument, which will be free to access for all Khabarovsk residents”, the creator of the monument said.

Dvnovosti explain that the idea to create a Stoned Fox monument came after a “Monuments that don’t exist” competition run by the news portal DVHab.ru in April 2013. Local residents chose the Fox as the winner after which temporary gypsum copies of the future monument were installed on the ponds.

Are you a Russophobe?

Сергей Ирхужин:

I don’t understand all this hysteria around the corpse of an animal.

“around the corpse of an animal”. If you’re a vegetarian, and you don’t wear leather shoes/clothes, and don’t use cosmetics and household products tested on animals etc., etc., then fair enough. Otherwise, calling this taxidermy “the corpse of an animal” is a bit hypocritical, don’t you think?

Exactly like a sphinx.

They’re knocking down monuments to Lenin, for example, and other important people, and putting up these incomprehensible scarecrows. Country of fools.
