Netizens Don’t Care That America is Monitoring Them

American security services track the internet flow from Russia

Тhe fugitive CIA worker Edward Snowden has published another batch of secret information, which affects Russia this time. He has handed over NSA documents to German journalists. They imply that the NSA and CSA had unlimited access to one of the world’s largest internet nodes, DE-CIX, in Frankfurt-am-Main.

Every day, a colossal amount of information passes through this node, at peak times, as much as 2.5 terabytes of date per second. A large part of the information going through DE-CIX comes from Russia, Eastern Europe, and the Middle East.

As to how the surveillance is carried out technically, the documents do not say, but there is an indication that the American intelligence services control point may be 35km aways from Frankfurt, in the town of Griesheim, LifeNews report.

Previously, thanks to information made public by Snowden, it was revealed that the American intelligence services have been engaged in wiretapping of European offices in New York and Washington, as well as eavesdropping on talks between leaders of different countries including Russia at the G20 summit in 2008.

Well flipping heck, they’ve been caught in the act.

Ventur:

Are any internet users affected badly by this? I don’t really care…

echo.bjornd: (responding to above)

It’s practically technically impossible to do anything with that much traffic.

PaaLadin:

Where’s the lion’s share of this data going? I have 100% control of the node that 100% of the world’s data flow goes through. It’s the gateway standing in front of my home network. So what? Our internal Russian traffic has no relation to this node, and the maximum that they can get is requests for foreign porno sites and Disney films.

voin-34462: (responding to above)

Dude, you still fapping to Tom & Jerry?)

PaaLadin: (responding to above)

Tom & Jerry isn’t Disney

бубновый valet:

But it’s all in the name of democracy…

ВсёПутём:

They’re not just tracking this flow. They’re tracking everything in general.

AMERICAN POWER:

What’s the problem? Isolate the Russian Federation from great American inventions – for example, use pigeon post. (“employee”, no, he’s just a worm, and there’s only one way out for him now – hanging himself)

Рыцарь Российского Либерального Языкоблудия: (responding to above)

This is a characteristic feature of the system Vladimir Putin has built.

drags: (also responding to previous commenter)

Yeah, and ban McDonalds and watching American films too

R0Mi0:

Haha hilarious! :) I can see how a billion Chinese people sit and analyse the flow from Russia :D They’re sitting there, tracking “Ah, how big the flow from Russia is! Ah what beautiful flow” :) They’ll never be able to read it. “As to how the surveillance is carried out technically, the documents do not say”
